Serra dos Órgãos 3 Days

Atualizado: 8 de mai. de 2022

Considered The most beautiful traverse in Brasil

(called the organ's sierra because the mountains looks like church organs.)

First day:

8km

On the first day, we´ll walk up to 1.100m hight for 8 km until we reach Açu Mountain with

2,150 meters in height. We do this with fun and observing the nature of the Atlantic Forest.

If the weather is pleasant and we sustain a fast pace during the day, we`ll have enough time

to explore a few nice places near the main trail.

Açu means "big" in Tupi-guarani (indigenous language)

At the top of Açu there is a refuge to receive us with beds, hot shower and kitchen. There´s a 360 ° view and we will sleep on our first day.

Second day:

9km

Our second day starts early to see the sunrise from "Portal of Hercules" (main photo above). A nice place, close to Açu. We will have our breakfast over there and start walking to Teresópolis.

We will walk another 9 km through the beautiful and very large mountains surrounding "Pedra do Sino" (2,275m "bell's stone").

There we have another refuge to host us for the

night and we'll get to know more about this huge mountain, which is the biggest of the park.

On the third day,

8km

We can see the sunrise at Sino summit and start descending on a beautiful

9 km trail to the city of Teresópolis.

After we complete the 3 days hike we will celebrate in the classic mountain hostel of

Teresópolis.

MuRiQui is very happy with the opportunity to take you on this traditional hike.

We will provide transportation, first aid, all food necessary (breakfast, lunch and snacks) and all technical equipment needed.

What to take on the expedition?

At least 2 liters of water with you. Let's not forget the sunscreen and hat. Blouse and long pants, fresh and comfortable, help protect us on the trail. Expect it to be cold, maybe 5 degrees or less, so dress for the occasion. *Tip, onion technique: 3 layers (second skin, warm coat and waterproof coat on the outside), this works for both the top and the legs. Good hiking shoes, preferably waterproof, help a lot. Tip: take extra socks in case you get wet and to keep your feet warm. Walking sticks help a lot. It is good to bring some light snacks of your choice. Especially on this trail, as it is technical and with closed vegetation, it is good to take a fresh and tight glove to protect your hands.

Logistic included:

- trekking (3 days)
